Welcome to Bay Tango, my name is Stewart Purdie and I am a tango dancer and teacher here in the North East of England, and have been dancing various styles of Dance for nearly 40 years.
I started dancing and teaching Argentine Tango about 13 years ago, styles includes Tango Salon, Estilo Milongero, Vals, Milonga and Canyengue.
Trained and attended workshops in the UK and Buenos Aires with teachers such as Carlos ‘El Tordo’ and Liliana Tolomei, Jorge Firpo, Juan Carlos Copes, Gato Valdez and Andrea Monti, Marta Anton and Manuel Salvador “El Gallego Manolo”, Pablo Rodriguez, Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau, Jose Vasquez, Fernando Sanchez and Nayla Vacca, Orlando Faria.
I am also available to arrange wedding dances.
Tango at the Tavern has been running for over 6 years now, and has a friendly relaxed atmosphere to practice your Tango, where everyone is welcome regardless of level.
The music is mainly traditional and the people are great. And the Sprung floor upstairs is one of the best dance floors in the North East.
There is a bar downstairs.
